Two drivers from Mercer County were involved in Tuesday’s crash that shut down Interstate 376 in Lawrence County. One of those drivers is dead and the other was seriously injured.
State Police say 26-year-old Riena Smith of Clark, Pennsylvania was driving a pickup truck that veered off the eastbound lane, crossed the median, struck a guardrail, and struck a van in the westbound lane.
The driver of the van, 41-year-old Neil Plummer of Greenville, died in the collision.
Smith was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown with serious injuries. Police say Smith was driving carelessly.
The interstate was closed for more than six hours between Route 208 and Mitchell Road.
