A man in Cortland managed to escape from Mosquito Lake in his vehicle after driving it into the lake.

According to a call log from the Trumbull County Dispatch Center, a call came in just before 2:30 p.m. stating that a vehicle was in a lake and a man was in the ice.

A dispatcher tells 21 News this happened on the beach near the jet ski rental center.

A media representative for Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) says the man told officers he was disoriented by the snowy conditions and accidentally drove into the lake.

The man only drove through shallow water in the lake.

ODNR officers at the scene told 21 News the man was able to drive himself out of the water and leave the scene without sustaining any injuries.
