The Valley is waking up to a fresh layer of snowfall with more to come on this Monday morningLocation, location, location is often the repeated saying that has emphasis for finding a home, but the same is true for winter storms. A storm’s track is very important; it determines who sees snow or other wintry precipitation and how much. We have landed on the snowy side of this cross-country winter storm. Greatest travel impacts are expected along and south of I-70; considerably less just an hour or two to the north.

Our viewing area is not included in any winter weather alerts, but continue to exercise caution due to the timing of the storm. While this will not be a major storm for our area, the storm arrives when most will be on the roads heading back to work and school after the holidays which will impact the morning rush.

Neighborhoods in Columbiana County can generally expect 1-3 inches of snow on Monday with amounts jumping off considerably the further north you go. North of Youngstown backyards can get a coating to an inch to freshen up the amounts from last week/weekend. The majority of our snowfall accumulations will come before noon Monday.

Leftover flurries will be found as the cold sharpens behind the departing system with off and on snow showers and flakes continuing through at least midweek with the lake effect machine turning back on. The snowpack will stick around as temperatures will be cold to support minimum melting. This will aid in the arrival of single digit overnight lows by late week as we are in the crosshairs of some pure Arctic air.

Once Monday's storm is gone our eyes will focus on another winter storm that could brush the area by this weekend.
