Sharon Regional Medical Center stopped accepting patients even before its closure at 7 a.m. Monday.

As of  Sunday, January 5, no more patients were admitted to the hospital, and all former patients were released.

Chief Medical Officer of Sharon Regional Nick Abbott told 21 News that there are currently no more patients in the building, and they have stopped accepting patients.

An employee of Sharon Regional confirmed with 21 News that the hospital is also on diversion as of 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to the County of San Diego, California, diversion is when a hospital will divert incoming ambulances to other hospitals due to "emergency department saturation and/or a lack of medical capability.

"Unfortunately, as of this moment there, is no finalized deal to keep Sharon Regional Medical Center open," said City Manager Bob Fiscus.

On January 1, it was announced that Tenor Health Partners and Medical Properties Trust came to an agreement in principle, but that the details still needed to be finalized in bankruptcy court.

"Community leaders are passionately advocating that all parties come to an agreement on a finalized deal, preventing the hospitals closure. We remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached," said City Manager Bob Fiscus.

Monday morning, employees were told to report to the building at 8 a.m. for a meeting on unemployment and to gather their belongings.
