The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has lifted speed restrictions on I-80 in Mercer and Venango Counties as of around 6 p.m. Friday.

According to a press release, speeds were reduced to 45 miles per hour on I-80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 36 in Emlenton). As of this writing, the speed limit has been restored to normal.

While PennDOT crews are actively working to treat the roadways, their goal is to keep the roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow, so drivers are still asked to exercise caution when traveling.
