Fire crews in Warren rescued a dog from a house fire in the city Friday afternoon.

Warren Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Eggleston tells 21 News the fire happened on the 700 Block of Perkinswood Blvd. SE around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Eggleston says the fire started on the second floor of the home and caused "extensive damage" to the second floor. Eggleston said he does not know if the home is a total loss, but says the home is uninhabitable following the fire.

Eggleston went on to say the fire does not appear to be suspicious and preliminary findings suggest the fire was electrical in nature.

While no one was home at the time of the fire, Eggleston says a dog was removed from the home. The dog was not injured.
