The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has ruled the death of four occupants of a home that exploded in Ellsworth Township back in October as accidental.

An investigator with the Mahoning County Coroner's Office told 21 News the cause of death for the four people in the house was determined to be blunt force injuries stemming from the explosion. 

No foul play is suspected.

The explosion happened at a home on the 8500 Block of Huxley Road in October of 2024 and claimed the lives of 69-year-old Jeffery Kocanyar, 67-year-old Joann Kocanyar, 33-year-old Julie Lubic and 33-year-old Adam Lubic.

Residents in several surrounding communities including Canfield, Salem, Beaver Township, Columbiana and Berlin Center all felt the impact of the explosion with several residents calling 911 to report it.

One neighbor living near the house say the explosion was so fierce it knocked her to the floor and shattered her windows.
