The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has lifted the speed limit on Interstate 80 and part of Interstate 79 in Mercer County issued earlier due to wintery driving conditions.

PennDOT issued a statement late Friday morning that the 45-mph speed reduction had been lifted on the following highways:

  • Interstate 79 from the I-80 interchange to Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro).
  • Interstate 79 from the I-80 interchange to Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro). • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton).

The restriction remains in place for the following roadways:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro) to the ending point in the City of Erie.
  • Interstate 86 from the New York state line to the I-90 interchange.
  • Interstate 90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.

While the speed restriction is in place, commercial vehicles are limited to travel in the right lane only.
