Youngstown eyes America's 250th birthday bash
The City of Youngstown is making plans to celebrate America's 250th birthday.
Youngstown has been designated as an America 250-Ohio City, according to Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown).
The designation provides opportunities for local leaders to network, partner, and exchange information with the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
America 250-Ohio is a multi-year commemoration where Ohioans from all 88 counties will celebrate the state's role in the nation's history. The commission was formed in 2022 and is charged with preparing the state for the 250th anniversary of the United States, which culminates on July 4, 2026.
"When it comes to our storied history and our impact, that couldn't be truer," said Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown. "From being the birthplace of Good Humor and the Warner Brothers to leading the charge as a hub for advanced manufacturing technology today, Youngstown has a history of innovation that has always been at the forefront of driving America forward."
The America 250-Ohio City designation makes local organizations eligible for grants of up to $5,000 to plan activities and events. They will also receive access to resources like digital toolkits and an online community platform.
