The appeal of a Warren woman convicted of running over a woman with a car and killing her has been denied.

According to a press release from the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, the appeal of 38-year-old Kenyanna Pennock has been denied.

Pennock is serving a sentence of 15 years to life in prison on charges of murder, felonious assault and reckless homicide in connection with the death of 36-year-old Jesare'e Harris on Parkman Road back in November of 2022.

Testimony during Pennock's trial revealed that Harris suffered major head injuries after traveling on the hood of the vehicle for over 30 seconds at about 50 miles per hour.

Harris died of her injuries six days later.

Pennock appealed her sentence claiming the court refused to give the jury instruction on self-defense. She also claimed that there was insufficient elements to support a guilty verdict and that the court failed to establish mens rea elements for the offenses.

However, the appeals court found all of these claims to be without merit and upheld Pennock's conviction.

Pennock will continue to serve her sentence at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio.
