Trumbull County Recorder elect Dawn Zinni, who is set to take office Monday, January 6 filed for bankruptcy December 21.

According to court documents, Zinni owes $961,909 in liabilities. Court documents list her total assets as $398,258 and her monthly income as $5,016 per month.

21 News reached out to Zinni for comment with Zinni explaining the bankruptcy was connected to her former trucking business known as Buckeye Transport.

In a statement, Zinni said the business failed due to record high fuel costs, as well as a "depressed economy," and "inept administration" and "failed policies" following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zinni went on to say voters were aware of these financial troubles prior to voting for her and that her current priority is preparing to take office on Monday.
