An officer with the Poland Village Police Department is currently on leave following an OVI charge in late December.

According to court records, David Beavers was charged with one count of OVI December 28. He was arraigned on this charge on December 30.

The exact details of what led up to the charge are unknown at this time.

Poland Village Police Chief Don Lambert confirmed with 21 News that Beavers is employed as a part time officer with the department and has requested a leave of absence.

Court records show Beaver pled not guilty to the charge and the case is set for trial.
