A subcontractor worker at a Valley feed mill is very lucky Thursday morning after slipping and becoming stuck inside a bulk feed discharge semi-trailer in Columbiana County.

The worker was at a feed and grain facility on Middle Street in Homeworth, Knox Township, when he slipped and became stuck inside the feed in the tanker car.

After about an hour, the Homeworth Fire Department, assisted by the Alliance Fire Department, was able to wrap a harness around the entrapped man and safely lift him out of the feed hauler using a fire department ladder truck.

The man was transported to a hospital in Canton.

The Homeworth Fire Chief Brian Baker told 21 News the man appeared to have non-life threatening injuries and believed the incident happened because the worker slipped while performing a common-practice procedure involving feed trucks.

Feed haulers can hold several tons of feed inside them.
