Youngstown City Council is expected to vote Thursday morning on authorizing a contract for roadwork resurfacing improvements for a main road on the city's East Side.

The improvements will be on State Route 422, also known as McCartney Road in the city — from South Coitsville Center Road to State Line Road.

According to the council agenda, the roadwork will include resurfacing, curb installation, curb ramps, curb and gutter, drainage and water work improvements, traffic signal upgrades, and new pavement markings.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is funding most of the project's cost, $2,410,200, while the city will be responsible for $43,080 of the total cost.

Youngstown Deputy Director of Public Works Chuck Shasho tells 21 News Youngstown will only be paying for the sections of the roadway in its jurisdiction. Meanwhile, Campbell will cover the costs for the sections in its jurisdiction, but that amount is unknown at this time.

ODOT will cover the costs for the sections in Coitsville Township's jurisdiction.

Construction is expected to begin on June 16 and be completed by October 3.
