A mother at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren welcomed the first baby born at the hospital in 2025.

21 News caught up with Valerie Semko who gave birth to her son Maverick Michael Pudvah at 11:03 a.m. New Year's Day. Semko tells 21 News she named her son after the main character of the movie "Top Gun."

Semko told us she originally did not expect to have her baby New Year's Day, but as her due date got closer, she realized her son would likely be delivered on or around New Year's Day.

"I had plans to [celebrate with my family], but obviously plans have changed and now everybody made their bets as to what day we would have him and we ended up having him today," Semko said.
