New Year brings higher Ohio Turnpike tolls
The new year brings higher tolls on the Ohio Turnpike. However, E-ZPass customers with passenger vehicles will still save more than those paying cash or by credit card.
Travelers driving westbound through Eastgate Toll Plaza (near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border) will pay a roundtrip, flat-rate toll. All customers traveling eastbound through Eastgate Toll Plaza do not pay a toll.
The toll rate for E-ZPass users with passenger vehicles (Class 1) has risen to 7.1 cents per mile from 6.5 cents, while the cash/credit card rate increased to 10.4 cents per mile from 9.6 cents.
For commercial vehicles (Class 5), the E-ZPass rate have climbed to 22 cents per mile from 20.4 cents, and the cash/credit card rate increased to 27.6 cents per mile from 25.6 cents.
The full trip toll for a passenger vehicle traveling westbound across the 241-mile turnpike (from Pennsylvania to Indiana) will cost E-ZPass users $18.50, a $1.50 increase. Cash/credit card customers will pay $27, up $1.75.
Westbound commercial vehicle tolls will increase to $57.50 for E-ZPass and $72.25 for cash/credit card.
For eastbound travel (from Indiana to Pennsylvania), E-ZPass passenger vehicle tolls are $15.50, a $1.25 increase, and cash/credit card tolls will be $22.75, up $1.50.
Eastbound commercial vehicle tolls increased to $48.50 for E-ZPass and $61 for cash/credit card.
