Man who defrauded Chill Can investors sentenced to over three years in prison
A Huron man who pled guilty to defrauding investors in the failed Chill Can plant project in Youngstown has learned his fate.
According to a news release from the Ohio Department of Commerce, Garry Savage of Huron, Ohio, was sentenced to more than three years in prison, followed by 18 months of parole following his release.
Savage has been in the Erie County Jail since August of 2022 and was given credit for time served.
Additionally, Savage must also pay $2,909,350 in restitution to those who invested in the project.
Savage's fraud scheme involved diverting funds that were supposed to be invested by Coast to Coast Chill Inc. into The Joseph Company to build the Youngstown plant to pay himself and repay other investors.
An indictment from November of 2021 states that Savage sold investments to 18 Ohio investors in Coast to Coast Chill.
