Ford has issued a recall of nearly 12,000 electric pickup trucks due to an issue that could increase the risk of a crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a total of 11,922 2023-24 Ford F-150 Lightning battery-powered electric trucks have been recalled because the front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been tightened properly.

This could cause the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly, in turn causing a loss of steering control and creating the risk of a crash.

Letters are expected to be sent to all owners of vehicles affected by this recall by February 3, 2025.

If you own a recalled vehicle, you may bring it to your local Ford dealership, and they will inspect the front upper control arm and replace the ball joint nut and/or knuckle assembly free of charge if necessary.
