Repair crews from FirstEnergy continued the tedious process of restoring power as hundreds of Valley homes and businesses face the prospect of spending New Year’s Eve in the dark.
As of Tuesday morning, FirstEnergy was reporting 555 outages still in the dark following Sunday’s high winds that brought down trees, branches, and wires.
The most extensive damage was in Columbiana County, where 362 outages were still being reported. Outages in Trumbull and Mahoning County had been reduced to 38, where the utility expected power back on by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Over the state line in Mercer County, 155 outages remained. FirstEnergy estimates some people could be in the dark until 11 p.m. Tuesday.
