Authorities identify Boardman woman who died after house fire
Authorities have released the name of the woman who died after a fire at her Boardman home on Monday.
According to the township Police, an officer went to a home on Nova Lane after Patrica Bell called 911 to report that a couch had caught fire.
The officer kicked in a door but was unable to find Bell, who was bedridden.
When firefighters found Bell, they said she was unresponsive and had been burned. Bell died later in the hospital.
Boardman Fire Chief Mark Pitzer tells 21 News when crews got to the scene, they saw flames on the lower level of the house.
Crews went into the home to rescue her, but Chief Pitzer said this proved to be difficult because the home appeared to be in a "hoarding situation," and passageways were very narrow as a result.
Chief Pitzer says one of the firefighters who rescued the woman suffered minor burns from the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
