Big Lots struck a deal with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners to keep between 200 to 400 locations open and to preserve thousands of jobs nationwide.

Gordon Brothers will retain the Big Lots brand and many of the employees of the select locations and distribution centers.

This deal comes after Big Lots filed for bankruptcy in September, and announced the closure of all Big Lots stores less than two weeks ago.

There are various Big Lots locations across the Valley, including stores in Austintown, Boardman, Niles, Warren, Hermitage, and New Castle.  As of now it is uncertain which of these listed locations will be saved with this transaction.

The 200 to 400 locations that will be kept operational comes from a pool of 1,420 stores Big Lots currently runs across 48 states and in which employs more than 27,000 people.

Big Lots President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Thorn spoke on the significance of the sale saying that the "sale agreement and transfer present the strongest opportunity to preserve jobs, maximize value for the estate and ensure continuity of the Big Lots brand."
