A surge of warm air for the weekend, then back to reality
What will be a mild and breezy weekend won't be dry.
Showers will be isolated after midnight and taper off early Saturday morning. From there, we won't have to worry about any raindrops. In fact, there may be some bonus sunshine in the afternoon as high temperatures try to climb to the low 60s.
Sunday will be a soggy day from start to finish as showers begin to work in before daybreak. Periods of rain will work into the area Sunday with high temperatures still on the mild side in the upper 50s. Sunday will be breezy too with winds gusting between 30 and 40 mph throughout the day and into the night. Showers will continue until Monday morning before tapering off.
After the rain exits, Monday will turn mostly sunny but stay breezy and not as mild with high temperatures in the upper 40s.
The final day of 2024 remains active with showers likely during the second half of the day. There may be a switchover to snow closer to daybreak on New Year's Day as low temperatures fall to the low 30s.
New Year's Day will be sharply cooler compared to the week before; high temperatures will make it only to the upper 30s with snow showers working in throughout the day.
The remainder of the first week of 2025 will feature snow returning Thursday and Friday and high temperatures in the low 30s and even upper 20s.
