SLIDESHOW: Fire crews rescue deer caught on ice in Milton Township Christmas Day
Crews had to use ice suits to cross the icy pond and place ropes over the deer's head. From there, they were able to pull it to safety.
Crews with the Milton Township Fire Department rescued a deer that was stuck on ice Christmas Day.
According to a post on the Milton Township Fire Department's Facebook page, a call came in early Christmas morning regarding a deer that was caught on ice in a pond at a home.
Crews had to use ice suits to cross the icy pond and place ropes over the deer's head. From there, they were able to pull it to safety.
Once the deer was back on dry land, crews were able to warm it up with several blankets and warming packs.
The Portage County Water Rescue Team assisted in the rescue.
