Sausage sold in Pennsylvania recalled after being produced without inspection
Impero Foods & Meats has issued a recall of over 7,000 pounds of its sausage products due to them being produced without proper inspection.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the recalled involves 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage sold between October 3, 2024 and December 19, 2024 in multiple states including Pennsylvania.
A sample image of the packaging of the recalled products is pictured below. This recall includes 10-pound cardboard cases of "Old World Italian Sausages" in both the rope and link variety.
According to the USDA, the products were served at restaurants and sold in stores without first receiving proper inspection from the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Some of the recalled products were sold at deli counters without labels or other identification.
So far, there have been no reports of adverse reactions to the recalled products, but if you consumed a recalled product and have health concerns, you're asked to call your healthcare provider.
Anyone who has purchased a recalled product should not eat or serve it and instead throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
