Bond has been set for local contractor previously convicted of multiple theft charges in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in the last year now accused of domestic violence.

Court records show bond for John Bartos III has been set at $3,000 cash surety.

Boardman Police were called to the 1300 block of Valley View Drive around 12:25 am Saturday for a call over an alleged fight between Bartos and his wife.

According to the report, Bartos's wife told police that Bartos had assaulted her by shoving her into the wall and to the ground.

According to the report, the victim told police that she was sleeping around midnight when Bartos came into the room, threw her cell phone at her and allegedly told the woman he was going to kill her.

Bartos left the house, and the woman was able to call 911. The victim told police that she is getting a divorce from Bartos.

The report also stated that Bartos made a video call to one of his children, and were able to determine that Bartos was at his parents' house in Hubbard.

Hubbard Police were notified and found Bartos III at his parents' address and he was arrested on charges of domestic assault charges.

Bartos told police no violence or threats occurred.

Bartos pled not guilty to the charges against him and waived his right to a speedy trial. He is due back in court for a pretrial hearing January 7.

In May, Bartos was sentenced to 90 days in jail in Columbiana County plus three years of probation on several charges of theft stemming from pocketing money from clients without completing the work he was hired to do for them.

Previously, Bartos was sentenced in Mahoning County back in March of 2024 and in Trumbull County back in October of 2023. He also faced charges in Lawrence County, which were dropped when a judge decided not to prosecute him.
