A white Christmas still in the (holiday) cards
After a quiet and seasonably chilly Monday, a mix of wintry precipitation will work in after sunset.
A mix of rain and snow, and perhaps some brief sleet, will fall before midnight as temperatures drop to around freezing. There will be a transition to a period of wet snow, which could lead to slushy accumulations of up to an inch in our Eastern Ohio counties, but a couple of inches could accumulate north and northeast of Youngstown.
Christmas Eve will feature lingering flurries and maybe some drizzle for a good part of the morning, before the afternoon turns cloudy and seasonably chilly with a high temperature in the upper 30s.
A white Christmas will still be in the cards and is very possible for those that live north and northeast of Youngstown with an inch of snow depth likely Christmas morning. The official definition of a white Christmas is having at least 1 inch of snow depth on the ground on Christmas morning.
Thursday and Friday end the week on a dry note and high temperatures will be rising through the 40s into the weekend. High temperatures will likely break through to the low 50s for the weekend but the mild air will be accompanied by showers both days.
Temperatures will likely stay well above the average for the final days of 2024.
