Suspect taken into custody, charged with murder following standoff in Masury
One person was taken into custody by Brookfield Police following an almost 24 hour standoff in Masury.
57-year-old Andrew Reedy surrendered to police around 7:20 a.m. Saturday morning.
On Friday, December 20, at approximately 9:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Lucy Street for a call of a unwanted person.
Once on scene, officers tried to contact the caller, but were unsuccessful.
They were able to contact Reedy, and after speaking with him, forced entry into the home where they found 57-year-old Jayne Payton, deceased from a gunshot wound.
Officers began to check the rest of the home when they heard a firearm discharge from the second floor, causing them to back out and await backup.
SWAT, Brookfield Police, Hubbard and Vienna Township officers assisted in the standoff.
During negotiations, officers learned that Reedy had a gunshot injury on his face.
Reedy was taken a hospital and evaluated for his gunshot wound. He is facing one charge of murder.
