Four days after offering a reward for the capture of a burglary and stabbing suspect, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has their man in custody.

After setting up surveillance along Auburndale Avenue, Task Force members spotted 29-year-old Shawn Hamlett on Thursday.

Officers followed Hamlett and said he tried to run when they went to arrest him near Southern Boulevard.

After being captured, officers say Hamlett tried to lie about his identity. However, the police found a food stamp card in his pocket identifying him as Hamlett, who was then taken to the county jail.

In addition to a burglary charge filed in June, Hamlett is charged with felonious assault for allegedly stabbing a neighbor outside a West Evergreen home the day before Thanksgiving.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
