A clipper system moving across the area on Friday will bring snow showers and flurries to the valley. Snowfall totals will generally be less than one inch, but some slick travel is still expected. In between the snowflakes, it will remain cloudy and cold with highs in the mid-30s.

Behind the clipper, winds will shift to out of the north, allowing for the development of lake effect snow showers. Snow showers will be likely at times on Saturday with localized accumulations of 1-3 inches possible.

Sunday will be the calmer, but also colder, day of the weekend. High temperatures will settle in the mid-20s with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Skies will clear out Sunday night, and temperatures will fall to around 10 degrees early Monday.

Our next chance to see some snowflakes will arrive Monday night. Snow will mix with or change over to rain by daybreak on Tuesday morning, with precipitation coming to an end before midday.

Temperatures will return to the upper 30s for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a slight chance for a rain shower or two.
