A road in Youngstown is closed in both directions after a car knocked over a utility pole in a crash Thursday evening.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Hillman Street and Ridge Avenue in Youngstown and only involved one car. Police do not know the cause of the crash at this time, but tell us it is under investigation.

The car appears to have sustained severe front end damage and a utility pole has been knocked over. Police on scene say the driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police are blocking the roadway in both directions, so drivers will need to take an alternate route until the scene is cleared.

FirstEnergy's outage map shows 42 outages in Youngstown as of 6:23 p.m., but it is unclear if these outages are connected to the crash.
