Feds seize more than two pounds of fentanyl en route to Newton Falls
A package containing 1.15 kilograms, or more than two pounds, of fentanyl won't be delivered to a Newton Falls address.
A federal officer of the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) reported that a package bound for Newton Falls had allegedly tested positive during a field test for fentanyl.
The package was seized by the federal officer from the Warrendale, PA Network and Distribution Center after a USPIS Analyst identified it as "suspicious" based on numerous factors.
Inspection of the package revealed two bundles of vacuum-sealed bags containing fentanyl.
Additionally, approximately 1.15 kilograms of blue circular pills, coded as 30 milligram oxycodone, were found.
During a field test, a narcotic detection dog inspected a line-up of the suspicious package alongside "blank" packages not containing any narcotics.
The dog positively identified the suspected package as containing some type of narcotic or controlled substance odor.
This particular detection dog was trained to detect odors of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines and/or their derivatives.
