A Youngstown man will spend a little over 7-and-a-half years in federal prison after being sentenced by Judge Arthur Schwab for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and fluorofentanyl.

According to information given to the Court, Teqwan Scott, 29, was responsible for trafficking "between 40 and 70 grams of a mixture of fentanyl and fluorofentanyl" from May 2021 to October 2022.

Scott originally pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 10 grams or more of fluorofentanyl in May of this year.

During this period of time, Scott was also on bond with a pending trafficking charge in Venango County, Pennsylvania.

According to the University of Victoria, fluorofentanyl is a fentanyl analog with the addition of a fluorine atom.

There are several subtypes of fluorofentanyl, which vary in potency with some being twice as strong as traditional fentanyl.
