A two-year-long ordeal for a Hubbard woman ended last week in a Pennsylvania courtroom.

Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announced that a New Kensington man has been sentenced for abducting the woman in 2022.

Steven Best, 41, who has been jailed since June, was sentenced to serve five to 10 years behind bars after being found guilty in October on charges of kidnapping and robbery.

During the trial, the victim recounted what the DA described as a terrifying and traumatizing experience when she was forced to stay in the basement of Best’s home for hours after the two met online.

The woman said she escaped after she professed her love for Best and said they would continue seeing each other if he allowed her to leave.

Best has been incarcerated since June.  DA Ziccarelli commended the victim for her courage and strength during the court proceedings.
