YNDC was awarded $1,500,000 in grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh to construct three new duplexes and renovate four abandoned houses in Youngstown.

"YNDC is happy to announce this investment that will allow for the creation of another ten high-quality new housing units along the greater Glenwood Avenue corridor as part of our long-term and incremental neighborhood stabilization work," said YNDC Executive Director Ian Beniston.

PNC Bank is the member bank supporting YNDC's application for the two grants, both $900,000 and $600,000, respectively, and partnering on the projects.

The duplexes being constructed will be located along Glenwood Avenue and the houses being renovated are in Pearce Avenue and Lake Drive.

Last month the YNDC was awarded $2.54 million in grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cinncinatti for the repair and renovation of homes alongside home loan programs and affordable housing construction.

One of the construction projects funded by last month's grants also included the construction of six new affordable housing units along Glenwood Avenue.

Beniston said that many of these projects fall into a "long term plan to provide quality affordable housing" across Youngstown.
