The Raymond John Wean Foundation has approved over $380,000 in grants that will be awarded to Valley organizations that work toward equitable compensation and economic opportunities for Valley residents.

The grant funding will go towards eight Valley organizations with $230,000 for United Returning Citizens, Thrive Mahoning Valley and Gener8tor's Skills Accelerator Program.

United Returning Citizens is a non-profit organization that aims to help those who were previously incarcerated transition back into society. Thrive Mahoning Valley works to make Valley workspaces more inclusive and accessible.

Both organizations will be receiving funding for their general operations.

Gener8tor Management LLC is receiving funding toward its virtual Skills Acceleration Program.

The Wean Foundation has stated in the media release that they have also awarded over $150,000 to five Black and Hispanic-led organizations. 21 News has reached out to the Wean Foundation to get a list of those organizations but has not heard back as of the publishing of this story.
