It's not the holiday season without a classic ugly Christmas sweater!

21 News has shared plenty of stories about the community coming together to help those in need this month. One Saturday, December 14 event encourages attendees to wear the ugliest sweater they have, all for a great cause.

"The world is a much better place when we all help each other and that's what we want this party to be about," explained Kyle Joynes.

Dressed in their Christmas best, attendees will be jingle bell rocking at the 12th Annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party at McDonald's Village Banquet Center.

"This experience is really touching," said Lou Ronghi. "When you see what these families are going through and then what we can do for them around the holidays is wonderful."

Admission is $20.00. Guests can experience a live band, food, and most drinks. There will also be a cash bar, basket raffle and reverse raffle.

"We decided to pick some families in need that we heard about throughout the year," Joynes explained. "We brainstorm together as a group. We find some people that we know or don't know who are going through some tough times. We decide to put them in our party as our beneficiaries."

The event was started years ago by Kyle's mother, Kim. "Her emphasis on life was giving back to people. It could be a stranger, a friend, or a family member. It is a super important quality."

Since the party's inception, nearly $100k has been raised to help families facing unimaginable losses and hardships.

"People come to us and ask how to help," Ronghi added. "There's donations. There are sponsors. They don't want their name on anything. They just want to be a part of the party."

"We're just a small part of everybody," Wendy Long added. "We could never pull off events without the help of the community and surrounding areas."

One recipient this year is the Ianazone family after wife and mother Courtney lost her battle to cancer and leaves behind her baby boy. Also, the Austalosh family recently lost husband and father Andrew. He died from an infection that led to organ failure, never being able to see the birth of his youngest child.

"It does matter," Joynes said. "When you get to see what the families are going through and you know the impact that you're having. To lend them some support, it's important. Especially around the holidays."

Other beneficiaries include the Lipscomb and Cunningham families, Eileen Zigler, and Melissa Burns.

All money will be donated in person next week by Christmas carolers. Tickets can be purchased at the door on Saturday.

The 12th Annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party will be held at the Village Banquet Center, 1057 Illinois Ave. McDonald, Ohio Saturday, December 14 from 5- 11 p.m.

The fundraiser is a 21+ event.
