Potential Development hosts Santa's Workshop event at all three schools
Students at all three Potential Development schools in Youngstown got to do some holiday shopping on Friday at the school's Santa's Workshop event.
The event took place across the preschool, elementary and middle school and high school. Students were allowed to pick out holiday gifts for their families at no cost to them.
School Board member and owner of Ivory & Birch Boutique in Boardman Deloran Muransky Thompson helped provide gifts this year.
Thomas told 21 News this event has been going on for around eight or nine years, but this is the first time all three schools were involved. This growth was able to happen due to more and more people donating gifts for the event.
"It first started out with just the high school ... with all gifts that I just donated from Ivory & Birch. And then slowly over the years, more people heard about it and got involved and we were able to do the middle and elementary schools as well ... and this year we had even more of a response and had enough gifts to also include the preschool," Thompson said.
Thompson went on to say people have already expressed interest in getting involved with next year's event as well.
The school received over 1,000 items donated this year, giving nearly 350 students the opportunity to pick out multiple gifts for their families.
