The Trumbull County Republican Party is welcoming outgoing Trumbull County Commissioner Niki Frenchko back as an officer of the party after actions taken against her in 2023.

Trumbull County GOP Chair Julia Shutt released the following statement on the matter:

"For the purpose of advancing unity and correcting misinformation, the Trumbull County Republican Party publicly states that actions taken against Commissioner Niki Frenchko under previous leadership were rescinded by the TCGOP by the body of its membership."

"Further, Ms. Frenchko has been welcomed back as an officer of the Republican Party to fulfill the Auxiliary Chair position to which she was elected. We look forward to working with the new leadership infused to expand and unite our party base."

Frenchko herself also provided 21 News with a statement telling us she's looking forward to what's in store with the party's new leadership.

"I sought office as a Republican dating back to the 1990s, so clearing up the confusion related to my party was important to me. I am excited to see new party leadership that is interested in mending division and working to create a more positive image - rebranding us as more welcoming. We're going to see some good things coming from our new officer group and I'm delighted to be a part of it," Frenchko said.

Some officers of the party previously withdrew support for Frenchko back in October of 2023 claiming she had participated in conduct the party described as "unprofessional."

"While other candidates sat and greeted people, Niki ran through the headquarters interrupting everyone and shoving her petitions in their faces," said a 2023 letter from the Trumbull County GOP.

However, during a meeting in February of 2024, witnesses testified that these allegations were false leading the majority of the voting body to rescind the action against her.
