A man suspected of setting fire to a Newton Falls motel is in the Trumbull County Jail facing an arson charge.
Forty-four-year-old Justin Chill was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies and State Troopers early Friday after a fire was reported in a room at the Budget Lodge on State Route Five.
Newton Falls Fire District Chief James Williamson tells 21 News that when the crew from his department and Braceville arrived, they found that the motel manager had already put out flames on a mattress in the room, which was not occupied.
Describing Chill as a “person of interest” in the case, Chief Williamson said he was arrested at a nearby motel and taken to jail.
Williamson said the state fire marshal is investigating and Chill could face more charges.
