The passage of an arctic cold front early Thursday morning has allowed for frigid air to rush into the region. Temperatures will spend much of the day in the upper teens to low 20s with increasing sunshine. Wind chill values will be in the single digits.

Frigid conditions will continue overnight with clouds briefly returning. Skies will turn mostly sunny again by Friday afternoon, but highs will struggle to get out of the upper 20s.

Milder air will move in for the weekend with high temperatures jumping to near 40 degrees. A mix of sun and clouds is expected on Saturday with clouds increasing overnight. Showers will become possible around daybreak as an area of low pressure approaches the region.

With temperatures right around the freezing mark, there could be some mixing initially, but precipitation will turn to all rain Sunday morning. Rain showers will remain likely for the remainder of the day before tapering off overnight.

Another round of showers will be possible late Monday into Tuesday with temperatures well above average for this time of year.
