Thousands are expected to dash through the snow to Youngstown for the annual Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting late Friday afternoon and evening.

But getting around the hustle and bustle of downtown festivities can be a challenge.

The parade is set to begin at 6:00pm. It will leave from Covelli Centre, turn left onto Walnut Street, then turn left onto East Federal Street, then turn left onto Vindicator Square and make one final left onto Front Street.

Numerous parking lots and decks across the city will be open to the public, with those closer to the route typically filling up first.
Parking at Wood Street lot and Wick Avenue deck is $5, cash-only. However, both lots offer access to a free shuttle between Walnut Street and Commerce Street from 4PM to 10 PM.

Those who regularly commute through Youngstown may be affected by early road closures ahead of the event.

"Note that Federal Street for the most of the central business district will be cut off Thursday evening, so don't count on being able to pass through downtown all day Friday," Adam Lee, program director of Youngstown CityScape tells 21 News.
