Sightings of bizarre lights in Hubbard sky as New Jersey investigates drones
The FBI is investigating apparent drone sightings in New Jersey that more and more communities are seeing in the Garden State.
One Hubbard family tells 21 News they spotted something similar in the skies just last week. 21 News reached out to the FAA and FBI about these bizarre sightings.
The FBI, New Jersey State Police, and Homeland Security are looking into what could be in the skies in New Jersey's Morris and Somerset counties.
People living in those regions see clusters of drones and reportedly a fixed-wing aircraft. That's why investigators are requesting the public to report any recent sightings.
"I'm not typically frightened by something like that but I just thought it was a little bit odd," said Mary Mittwede of Hubbard.
Mittwede isn't ruling out she saw something similar last Saturday, December 1 at her parent's Mount Everett Road home.
"I saw something flashing just above my dad's garage," she told 21 News. "There were three of them and they were hovering around."
Video taken by Mittwede shows three red dots hovering just above the property's garage, sitting just south of I-80 near the metal construction business, TOL Buildings.
"They were moving very quickly and there were three of them and it was like a red bright light," she explained. "I got my phone out and recorded it and I came in the house and I said, 'Hey, look at what I recorded outside. Do you guys see this?' And they [my parents] said, 'Yeah, we've seen those a handful of times. We don't know what they are.' Is it a satellite? Is it a drone? We don't know."
The sighting is similar to what's being reported in New Jersey.
"They look identical to what I just saw a couple of days ago in Hubbard," Mittwede explained. "If I'm seeing this in this town, somebody else has to be seeing this. It was odd. It wasn't an airplane. It was just out of the ordinary."
The FAA told 21 News on Wednesday it has not received any reports in Northeast Ohio. Hubbard City and Township Police have not gotten any calls on the mystery lights. While the lights spotted in Hubbard remain a mystery, the FAA has banned drones over a New Jersey military base and Trump-owned golf club and investigations continue.
