Hubbard mayor, council discuss potential installation of fiber-optic internet in city
Hubbard Mayor Ben Kyle informed the city council and residents during Monday's meeting that Omni Fiber contacted him about the possibility of installing high-speed fiber optic internet cables throughout the city.
Omni Fiber, a Cincinnati-based internet service provider, contacted the Hubbard mayor and city council last week about the proposed project.
Kyle and the city council are looking into service provider.
"The question is if Omni Fiber even finds it feasible to install fiber optic cables throughout the city," Kyle said.
The installation of these fiber optic cables would give people of Hubbard more options when it comes to high-speed internet service providers.
The mayor hopes to have a follow-up meeting next week with the electrical department to discuss the logistics of the project.
