Police are investigating several reports of gunfire in Youngstown from Tuesday, including one instance that sent a man to the hospital.

The Youngstown Police Department has reported several incidents involving gunfire between 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

One call that came in shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday involved a man being dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Details are limited, but police believe the shooting to have happened in the area of Potomac and East Judson Avenue. No information on any potential suspect is available at this time.

Several other shootings were reported as well including one on Everett Avenue where a woman said she heard gunshots outside her house around 5:50 Tuesday morning.

Police collected several shell casings at that scene and found six bullet holes in a home. The woman told police this area gets shot up about once a year.

Another shooting was reported around 11:45 Tuesday night on the 100 Block of Matta Avenue where nine shell casings were found in the road. Police did not mention anyone hit or any homes or vehicles struck in this incident.

One final shooting was reported just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 300 Block of Edwards Street. In this case, a witness told police they had heard around 30 shots fired possibly by different weapons.

Police say one of those bullets traveled through the back door of a home and was lodged in a refrigerator door and two more shell casings were found in the back yard.
