A New Castle man who was involved in a drug trafficking group has learned his fate.

According to a press release, 37-year-old Luis Otero was handed a sentence of 37 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

Otero was one of 17 people charged in an organized drug trafficking group that obtained kilogram quantities of cocaine via U.S. Postal Service parcel from Puerto Rico and sold them in western Pennsylvania.

According to the release, Otero was responsible for retrieving five parcels containing cocaine and delivering them to a co-conspirator in exchange for money.

Several other suspects from areas like, New Castle, Ellwood City, Youngstown and more are also charged in this case. You can read more about the case in our related coverage below.
