Sharpsville church hosts annual community Thanksgiving dinner event
Folks in Sharpsville gathered for a community Thanksgiving meal at a local church Sunday afternoon.
St. Bartholomew Church on Ridge Avenue hosted its annual community Thanksgiving dinner event with the help of Boy Scout Troop 45 Sunday afternoon.
Event coordinator Russell Adkins tells 21 News one of the church's ministries has a community food pantry that donates food to those in need once a month. Adkins says this event is an offshoot of that food pantry.
"It's free for anyone in the community to come and enjoy a meal. We ask that anyone from all walks of life regardless of need come out to join a Thanksgiving meal with us," Adkins said.
Adkins went on to say the church has about 80 volunteers with 40 of them being children.
"We have the full support of our local Boy Scout Troop 45 that all come out and support the event [and] dozens and dozens of people who come and bring people together just in Thanksgiving and to share our blessings with others in our community," Adkins said.
Adkins says the church was prepared to serve as many as 450 to 500 people at the event and any extra food would be donated to those in need.
