Representative Parke Wentling announced an $80,000 grant for the city of Sharon to help with its Downtown Strategic Plan. 

The funding comes from the Department of Community and Economic Development Municipal Assistance Program. 

The grant will help Sharon officials develop a five-year strategic plan for downtown focusing on economic vitality, design, promotion and organization, and advance implementation of the recent comprehensive plan. 

The Municipal Assistance Program provides funding to assist local government to plan for an efficiently implement a variety of services and improvements, and soundly manage development with an emphasis on intergovernmental approaches. 

"It is fantastic news for the city of Sharon to receive this funding," said Wentling. "These grant dollars will help Sharon continue to renew downtown to make it a place for businesses to thrive and the economy to grow."
