East High girls basketball coach placed on paid leave during investigation

The East High Girls Basketball coach is on paid administrative leave Thursday, pending the outcome of an investigation into the coach.

The Youngstown City School District said it couldn't provide further details about the paid leave or the nature of the investigation for head coach Anthony Pastella. Pastella was named head girls' basketball coach at East High School in May.

Pastella previously served as the assistant coach at Struthers School District.

The Golden Bears girls' basketball team will play their season opener on Friday against the Warren John F. Kennedy Eagles team.
