A Youngstown businessman is donating the Christmas tree that will be the centerpiece of this year’s holiday festivities.

Bill West, who lives in Poland and runs the Heck Ya! hot dog shop on McCartney Road, has agreed to supply the evergreen that will be delivered downtown on Friday morning.

"Clemate Franklin came and he said hey we have and idea--'We would like you to donate this tree for the Christmas parade'--and I thought 'man that would be a great idea'.", said West.

West, a Campbell native, wants to build a coffee shop on the property where the tree sits.

"It's going to be called Blue Box Coffee Company and we're building it out of a shipping container. Obviously it will be blue and coffee and donuts.", West explained.

Bill says its a way to help shape the culture in Youngstown through charitable acts and commerce.

The tree will arrive at Federal Plaza between 10:30 and 11:00 AM.

The tree will be lit following Youngstown's annual Holiday Parade which steps off at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 6th.

The fun begins at 4:00 pm with vendors selling their wares at the Youngstown Flea on Phelps.

In addition to the parade and tree lighting ceremony, you can enjoy Santa’s Workshop, Spruce Pop-up Shop, and free pictures with Santa will be at the DeYor.

There will be commemorative mugs with drink specials to fill them all over town.

The Pop-up Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County will be there. OH WOW will be open and free to the public from 4-6 pm.
