Open road tolling begins at Ohio Turnpike's Eastgate toll plaza

Open Road tolling has begun at the Eastgate Toll Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike on Wednesday.

The Eastgate Toll Plaza is located at milepost 239 in Springfield Township near the Ohio/Pennsylvania state line. With this, westbound travelers coming from PA will have one of two new ways to travel.

Customers with E-ZPass can keep driving at highway speed without having to stop. Meanwhile, those paying with cash or card will drive to the right, stop and pay a flat-rate toll instead of picking up a ticket and paying at another toll booth.

The flat rate fee will take drivers all the way to the Newton Falls exit.

Meanwhile, those traveling eastbound will not have to pay any tolls. This has been effective since April of 2024.

Unlike the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which utilizes a toll by plate system, those without an E-ZPass will still have to stop to pay their toll.
